HIGHLIGHTS

Explore the Sacred Valley with Peru Alive and transform your life on this dream journey!

Choquequirao is another "lost city of the Incas," yet it remains a hidden gem, seldom visited. This sacred earth journey takes us to a breathtaking location high on a ridge spur, nearly 1,500 meters above the Apurímac River. Surrounded by stunning snowcapped mountains such as Choqetacarpo, Yanama, Padreyoc, Huanipaca, Surusuru, and Sarasara, this ancient route offers an awe-inspiring connection to Andean culture and history.

Located 30 km from the village of Cachora, Choquequirao is believed to have been the place where the last Inca, Tupac Amaru, was raised among Incan priestesses. Its architectural style reflects its spiritual and ceremonial importance, marking it as a site of profound sacred energy.

According to legend, above the Río Apurímac, there once stood a bridge connecting two mountains high above the canyon. It is said that the Inkas deliberately destroyed this bridge to prevent the Spaniards from reaching the sacred site of Choquequirao, preserving its mystery and power for future generations to uncover through their own sacred journey.
